The Alpaca industry's long range future is in the fiber. Wholesale and retail markets must be developed so Alpaca owners will be able to profit from the commodity their animals produce.

 

The main purpose of ohioalpacas4u.com is to help develop this market for Alpaca fiber.

 

 

First: Alpaca owners must be better educated about the production of quality consistent fiber through nutrition, animal care, breeding programs and shearing practices.

 

Second: Wholesale buyers of raw and processed Alpaca fiber and products must be identified. These buyers must make the produces aware of their needs and demands.

 

Third: The public must be educated and informed about the benefits of and the availability Alpaca Fiber Products
 

When I started this website the above statements were true. It was my desire to work with Ohio Alpaca owners to help develop the fiber market. Owners and others within the industry presented themselves as interested and supportive of this goal. The fiber market was and is still the future of the Alpaca Industry. But after a few years of searching for answers I have realized this is a waste of time because:

  • I learned supposed industry leaders were misleading those who wanted to begin raising alpaca to the value of the fiber,

  • I learned that most alpaca breeders only aim was to sell high priced animals and in reality could not care less about the fiber-side of the industry;

  • I watched as naive owners pay to give their fiber away.

So last year I had to ask this question:
